Christmas in August

Yes, I'm already thinking of Christmas. I've already decided that I'm making block quilts for my parents and brother & sister-in-law. Probably, we'll buy stuff for "little miss" (that what I've decided I'm going to call my brother's baby). Its so much fun to buy baby things. I'm so looking forward to cooler weather. Its been so hot.

derby and other news

Hubby ran in his first derby for the summer on Saturday. He got 6 place, but he had fun. His next one will probably be in two weeks. It has been so hot.
I finished my first scrapbooking project Saturday. I made one for my neice. She turned 16 last Wednesday and I used her prom pictures from this year. I really enjoyed scrapbooking.

I've been trying to make this lamb, finally, but I can't seem to follow the instructions. I hope I figure it out soon. My sister-in-law is due November 1st. Finally she has begun to gain weight. She's gained 10 lbs. Her docter thinks she may have placenta previa, so she may have to deliver C-section. She goes back in two weeks for another ultrasound to confirm it. Other than that everything is going good.
Tomarrow my mother-in-law is having hip replacement surgery. This is her second one. The first one didn't take. We are going all the way to St. Louis for this one.
As for me, I'm really enjoying being at home so often. I'm baking bread every week, preparing meals ahead, cleaning like crazy, and getting more exercise. As you can tell I'm crafting more too. Also I'm trying to get through Wuthering Heights, but I'm finding it very hard to read. Its been a couple of days since I've picked it up. I may have picked something that is just above my publicly educated mind.
I actually managed to get through my entire blog roll today, visting everyone's blog. I've been missing bloggy fellowship. But, I'm doing my best to keep my chin up.
I won't be back in the office until Thursday and I don't know what kind of time I'll have to blog. So, this may be it for this week.

Enjoying Spring

The weather has been wonderful the past couple of days. I've opened up my house, and let all the stuffy winter air out. Every morning the birds come alive around 5:00, and its so energizing hearing them sing. It reminds me of a part in a book I read last year called "Many Waters". In several scenes the characters describe the many jungle animals coming out in early morning to sing to the sun. With all of my windows open, the music comes in from all directions. However, the warmer weather has brought swarms of insects. I've been seeing lots of spiders outside and inside our home. I'm not sure what kind they are, but it concerns me some. Also, we are having a problem with some sort of fly-type bug bothering our dogs. Its not a fly, and they are too big to be gnats. We are hopeing they move on soon. I've decided to do my baking early in the morning because of the afternoon heat. This week I'm going to bake Strawberry Bread and Cherry Muffins. I'll post on my results. Spring makes me crave fruit.
I have a couple more projects going on, I guess I need to make a list.

  • New recipes to try.
  • Reading list.
  • Lamb craft( I've got my pattern all ready, I have to wash the material)
  • Work on the bathroom remodeling.
  • Resume morning walks.

I'm a busy lady.

Update on my sister-in-law: Her next appt. is in 3 weeks. She is doing well. Her doctor told her to eat more often, every two hours or so, and thats been helping with the morning sickness.

I'm Back!

What a nice little rest we had from our usual schedule. I was able to get caught up on my cleaning. I've felt behind every since I was sick. I had a decent visit with my relatives. Hubby's Birthday was Thursday. He turned 28 years old. Every year he gets closer to 30, its a little scary for me. He keeps taking me with him....LOL!
I'm itching for spring. Yestarday was beautiful- but today is dreary and rainy. I was hopeing to get a walk in today, but at this rate it doesn't look likely.
I'm also dreaming of taking a trip soon. We love to travel. I've been looking at Niagra Falls or maybe somewhere along the Suwannee River which is in Georgia & Florida.
My sister-in-law's appt. was rescheduled for next Friday. Shes probably 8 weeks along and still has yet to see a doctor. She has been feeling a little sick, but I'ld be worried if she wasn't. She says she'll feel better about buying things once she passes the 12 week mark. We are a little intrigged by the fact that she seems to already be showing some. Could it be multipules?! Only time will tell.
I'm determined to get back into reading. However much I would like to be outside soaking in the sun (when its out), I know I need to keep my mind sharp. Tomarrow I'm going to post my reading list goal for the summer. I'm not really a fast reader, but maybe once I get started I'll get faster. Also, I'm going to get started on my lamb project....now I have 2 to make.
