Ch Ch Ch Ch Changes Turn and Face The Strange Changes

In case you didn't notice, most of my life has a soundtrack.  I have a jukebox in my brain.  There are some changes happening.  For the past two years I've worked within my home.  I've been preparing for a baby.  One that's coming any moment now- I just know it.  Yeah, well.... Life keeps rolling on.  For a couple months now we've been having a hard time with our mortgage company.  We tried to refinance our home loan with a local bank.  Even though they led us to believe that we were approved, it didn't work out.  While they were dragging their feet, my hubby's credit began to lower since we couldn't afford to pay our raised payments.  Finally, it became very clear that we were going to have to try and work something out with our original loan.  We've been talking to them about taking the escrow out of our payments (we've already got our taxes & insurance coming directly to us now), but they say that there's nothing they can do for us until we get our payments caught up.  So, that's what we are doing.  We are sending them another check tomorrow and that should have us caught up.  Now, if we don't get something worked out with them...... well, we can't afford to pay what they want.  So, we either have to sell the house (which I might as well tell you, is impossible) or sign it over to the bank.  That would hurt my hubby's credit - but, as I said it is already imperfect now.  What does this mean for us?  Well, we will have to move.  Where?  I don't know.  I do know that they won't give us a baby if we are homeless.  My parents keep telling us that we won't be homeless as long as they are alive.  That is comforting.  Sort of.  Even if we have a home to live in, they still won't give us a baby if we are living with my parents.  We have to be able to show that we are responsible and capable of providing for a child.  Living with your mommy- isn't doing that.  Also, we have to redo our homestudy in August since its been two years.  They will do a credit check.  So, if they haven't found out that we are homeless, they will find out that our credit isn't as good as it used to be.  Another reason not to give us a baby.
Ok.  So with all of that explained, I can safely say that there are some serious changes soon to come.  Even if we do work something out with them with this house and get everything resolved, we've already decided that we really need to get out of this sink hole.  This is not a homeowners pie in the sky right now.  Basically, one way or another I see us living somewhere else by Christmas.  Renting isn't looking to bad folks.  Our dream is to buy some land in the country, around 5 acres or so and putting a double wide on it.  Having a pasture with some horses & cows.  A barn with some chickens & ducks.  A big garden with vegetables and fruit.  Yeah, we want to be farmers.  I grew up in the country.  I know how great it would be to raise a child there.  Where it's quiet.  I want a porch where I can go out in the morning and read my Bible with a cup of tea and be at peace.
Today I got a job.  Like a real one.  Outside of my home.  At a popular large retail store.  More or less, I will be deep frying food all day.  Thank God I get to wear gloves.  Isn't that precious.  *Disgusted Sigh*  I know I'm going to be standing there with grease splattering my clothes and wondering how I got to that point.  While this battle with our mortgage company goes on, I know we are going to need extra money to pay our regular bills.  I was surprised at how easy it was to get a job.  I guess it is what God wants me to do right now.  I do what I need to do when I need to do it.  But, I will be dreaming of the day that I quit.  When I can be in my home (where ever it is), rocking my baby to sleep.  It's just going to take more work.  More prayer.  More waiting.  More patients.  More love.  More faith.  Oh Lord....... So much more faith.

Hey, whats under there?

This is my dresser on the sloppy pill...
and this is my dresser on the clean pill....
any questions?
Ok, so thats silly... but it reminded me of those psa's about your brain on drugs they used to show when I was a kid. I really like to be organized, but sometimes the things around me are not and after a while you get used to it. I did this in response to Rachel Anne's Home Sanctuary Today's Small Thing. Get on over there and check it out.

and since my shower curtain was grody too- here is the final result

leaves are changing......

finally! We went on a drive through the country yestarday and it finally looks like fall. Today it for sure feels like fall too.
I finally made it through my blog roll today. Yet again I'm all caught up on whats going on with everyone. I've been busy at work with the new preacher. Its nice to be busy. I've been really enjoying my days at home even more all the time. I'm really charishing them... and hoping that I get to continue this schedule.
My sister-in-law is still holding that precious little girl in. Yestarday we got a call, and rushed to the hospital. But, she wasn't in "active labor". She looked pretty active to me! I hate seeing her in such pain and discomfort-but I know it will be worth it. So, we're still waiting. The doctor says that if she doesn't come by Tuesday of next week, and s-i-l hasn't progressed anymore then he's going to induce.
We are all set for our party. I'm going to start getting the food prepared tomarrow. However, I'm not sure how many are actually coming. But, we'll have a good time anyway. Even if it ends up just being the two of us.
Hubby and I have been having a little fun. Remember I told you that he wrote me notes and hid them the other day. Well, I wrote him some. Then he wrote some more. And its been back and forth like a game. This morning I found one proped up against the toothbrush holder complimenting me on my smile. Now its my turn.
I made this bread this past weekend. It was pretty good, but I expected the filling to be more creamy than it was. Next time I have to figure out how to do that. Also I made pumpkin pancakes. I took pictures and I'll share them and the recipe next week.

Aren't they beautiful. I love morning glories. My grandma used to grow them.
My weekend was good. My birthday was nice. My husband took me to my favorite restaurant for lunch and we had friends over for dinner. Sunday we went to Bedford In. for a Ham Radio Festival. My husband recently got his Ham Radio license. I was so proud of him. Besides radio stuff, they had many other odds and ends. I bought some homemade natural honey.
Yesterday I did some cleaning. I've got a list of things I need to do before our Autumn party. I'm spreading the tasks out so that they don't interfere with my everyday work. I washed windows, widow seals, and curtains. Also I dusted walls and ceilings. Those swiffer brooms are good for that task.
Today is the day for my brother & sister-in-law. Starting today, if she goes into labor they are going to allow her to have the baby. Her due date is Nov. 1st, but they've had to stop her labor 2 or 3 times in the last couple of months. There are 23 days between now and her due date. What do you say we make this interesting. Sort of like a pool. No money wagered, but just for fun. What day do you think my sister-in-law will go into labor? Keep in mind that she's having a girl and shes been carrying low every since last Sunday. Leave your guess in comments.

Sandwiches part2

Its still hotter than who wouldn't have it: something else we say.
Now where was I....oh yes I was confessing my purchase of FROZEN DINNERS! Sorry it makes me giggle.
We've had sandwiches every which a way. We've had bologna, ham, turkey, cheese, "ham" salade(made with bologna), and tuna salade. To make the salade sandwiches I simply mix together the meat, mayo, and relish, pepper to taste. For the "ham" salade I added cheese. With every sandwich goes tomato slices and lettuce fresh from the garden. One night we also had salades with chicken strips. The chicken was the kind you buy in the bag and microwave what you need. Tonight I think we are having egg salade in pita pouches (a little change from regular bread). Tomarrow maybe another salade with chicken and Thursday we'll probably finish off the dinners. Now, for the next two weeks I've got to come up with more ideas. Hubby isn't going to put up with sandwiches much longer. It has been a nice change from the hearty meals I usually make.
About the flour in the freezer. I've been putting this off, but it needs to come out just in case you thought I had this homemaker thing down. It all started um... two shopping trips ago. I almost always buy flour when I go shopping because I use alot of it. My husband picked up the bag from the cart to scan it at one of those "do it yourself" scanners and noticed a hole in the bag. Please imagine if you will a chain store on a Saturday morning. So full you can't stir 'um with a stick. I was already fed up with the crowd. So, I said that I had probably punched the hole in myself when I picked it from the shelf and neither of us felt like going back for a different bag. The next day we decided to make some pancakes ( We make big batches and freeze them for hubby to take to work for his breakfast break) and hubby brought down an already opened bag of flour. The bag I had bought the day before was sitting next to it. Well, a roach climbed out of the opened bag. Talk about coming apart. I've put up with a lot of different pests since keeping my own home, but this was the worst to discover. We spent most of the day cleaning and throwing things out. All of the flour that I had in my cabinets had to be trashed. The wheat, the cake, the bread. Ladies learn from my mistake. Do Not hoard flour. It makes me feel dizzy even now thinking of all that lovely flour in the garbage. Anyway, we didn't see anymore bugs. However, I kept repeating to myself, "Theres no such thing as one roach". The next day I bought another bag of flour from a small store and put it in the freezer. We still aren't keeping anything opened in the cabinets and I'm still keeping an eye out. But, its been several weeks and theres been no sign of any other bugs. And since I haven't been baking that flour is still in the freezer. The bag with the hole in it had to have been the problem. Knock on wood.

derby and other news

Hubby ran in his first derby for the summer on Saturday. He got 6 place, but he had fun. His next one will probably be in two weeks. It has been so hot.
I finished my first scrapbooking project Saturday. I made one for my neice. She turned 16 last Wednesday and I used her prom pictures from this year. I really enjoyed scrapbooking.

I've been trying to make this lamb, finally, but I can't seem to follow the instructions. I hope I figure it out soon. My sister-in-law is due November 1st. Finally she has begun to gain weight. She's gained 10 lbs. Her docter thinks she may have placenta previa, so she may have to deliver C-section. She goes back in two weeks for another ultrasound to confirm it. Other than that everything is going good.
Tomarrow my mother-in-law is having hip replacement surgery. This is her second one. The first one didn't take. We are going all the way to St. Louis for this one.
As for me, I'm really enjoying being at home so often. I'm baking bread every week, preparing meals ahead, cleaning like crazy, and getting more exercise. As you can tell I'm crafting more too. Also I'm trying to get through Wuthering Heights, but I'm finding it very hard to read. Its been a couple of days since I've picked it up. I may have picked something that is just above my publicly educated mind.
I actually managed to get through my entire blog roll today, visting everyone's blog. I've been missing bloggy fellowship. But, I'm doing my best to keep my chin up.
I won't be back in the office until Thursday and I don't know what kind of time I'll have to blog. So, this may be it for this week.

Grocery Shopping

Along with the gas prices, food and other grocery items have been going up in expense. I got so flustered this weekend that in one store hubby and I left our cart in the isle (frozen food and all) and walked out. Not only were the items I needed too expensive, but they were also poor quality. I picked up some chicken breasts and they were literally swimming in... well... you know what. I grabbed a tub of ricotta cheese, and it was a month expired. I was forced to buy milk at $3.15 a gallon at another store, but it was the cheapest in town. Hows a gal supposed to be frugal with all of this going on?

Giving Thanks

Say Hello to my little friend!
We purchased this a few weeks ago. We don't have carpet anymore (except in the spare bedroom) so there was no need to buy another vaccum when my old one quit. I've always wanted a Dust Buster. My mom never had one, and I always thought they were neat. I'm really enjoying mine.

Surprise

I was so pleased and excited this morning when I logged on and discovered 7 comments to moderate. To add further to my elation, non of them were negative. All were published.
Theres a rumor that we have bad weather coming. I say rumor because you never know if the metoroligist knows for sure or not. Anyway, I made sure there was a clean spot for me in the closet this morning before I left for work. I'm hopeing to get home before it gets bad. Here, in my office, there really isn't a good place to go if I needed to. I guess I would just get under my desk. I remember doing that in school. We would have Tornado drills and we would either get under our desks (if they were sterdy) or we would line up against a wall and get into the fetal position. My mom tells that when she was a kid they would have bomb drills. Even when I was a kid I knew that it was nonsense. You can't hide from radiation by setting under a desk. But, I guess they didn't know much about the atom bomb then, just that it might be coming. We still have bomb shelters in the area. They use them as community Tornado shelters now.
We are talking about camping this weekend. It takes a lot of organizing and preperation to get ready for camping. It makes me tired just thinking about it. But, its a lot of fun.

Getting Rid of Flys

-from "Tammy's Recipes"
I've had a terrible time all summer with flys. I can't buy bananas, which means no banana cake or bread. So I'm going to try this.

Grocery Shopping

This is my pantry full
Its a chore that I've never particullary liked..but I've gotten better at. When we first got married I started buying enough food for two weeks. Hubby gets paid every two weeks and I only shop once in that time period. Then, I would to walmart and spend up to $300 sometimes on food and "essentials". At some point that became impossible because of all the medical bills and stuff. Hubby would get upset if I went without him becuase I would buy for me and spend way to much. I didn't know at the time that I was doing it all wrong. When I gave over control of the money and fincial burdon he started giving me an allowance of $175 for groceries. Then when I learned about spending my husbands money wisely I dertermind that I should do everything possible to get that amount down while still getting everything we needed. So by reading others methods and doing with what I have to work with this is what I've come up with. On Wednesdays we get a sale paper for the local Buehlers Buy-Low. I go through the paper and pick out things that are on sale and that we use. That begins my shopping list. I try to look for things that will make a meal and that begins my menu list for the next two weeks. Then I make a list for what I know I can get cheaper at Save-a-lot (like canned goods) and finally I make a list for Dollar General (cleaning supplies, toliet paper, etc.) and if theirs anything that I absolutly have to go to Wal-mart for (certain kinds of pasta, dog food).
So here is my last list:
Buehlers $40 some
Kelloggs Cereal 5/$10
Puffs Tissues 10/$10 (I bought 4 at a $1.00 a box)
Save Bacon $1.69 (my "maiden" likes bacon)
Save Sugar $1.69
Bisquick Complete Mix 3/$2
Betty Crocker Muffin Mix 3/$2 (also for "maidens" breakfast)
Pasta 5/$5
BC Eggs $.69
Save Paper towels $.69
Kotex 2/$5
Betty Crocker Pizza Crust 2/$1.00
Crab pouch (the only thing I bought regular price)
Save-a-lot $30 some
Canned: carrots, corn, chicken broth
several lbs chicken
ricotta cheese
gravy mix
frozen dinners (hubby to take to work)
Dollar General $12
Detergent
Dish soap
Milk
Wal-Mart $5.00
Razors
Around $87 to $90 all together.
